THE GENITORTURERS Get Funky! Or Maybe Not...

February 4, 2002

We are inclined to believe that the following GENITORTURERS press release is a joke, but in light of bassist Evil D's (aka ex-MORBID ANGEL frontman David Vincent) current visual appearance, we're not entirely sure. So take it as you will. Here it goes:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

THE GENITORTURERS announce a new album and a new direction for the band. Created in collaboration with the Thee 37337 PH0RCES 0V D00M, j00 ARE 0WNED! represents the band's growing maturity.

"We've decided to get in touch with our inner funky selves," says Evil D. "I guess that ever since 9/11, I decided to reevaluate our position in the music world. I want to do something serious, to no longer be thought of as a novelty act. I want to play funk."

"I mean, live, we'll probably still continue to degrade ourselves and our audience... but really, I just don't think I could be happy without slipping in at least one Lionel Ritchie cover," he said. "I f.ckin' love Lionel Ritchie."

Look for the new album, j00 ARE 0WNED!, on Sony Records, the band's new label, in early 2002.
